Why Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is for people who are experiencing problems or symptoms in their lives which are related to or triggered by their past experiences. These problems or symptoms are having an impact on the way they think, feel and behave in the present, and/or how they consider their future.
The effects may result in mental unwellness – anything from distress, depression or anxiety through to unhelpful coping strategies or personality dis-orders.
Typically, clients come weekly for 60 minutes at a regular time. We look at the clients history to uncover what the root cause of their current symptoms or problems may be. Depending on the diagnosis and our contract (ie what the client wants to achieve in therapy) we will agree a treatment plan and work together to complete it.
This work can be transformative: and lead to change in thinking, feeling and behaviour. We will consider the unintended consequences for relationships, work and the client’s wider perspective in our planning.
What Psychotherapy Entails
Psychotherapy is likely to be medium-term (several months) to long-term (more than a year). However, a single, intensive session may be enough for some people.
Some people prefer to join a group, where they work alongside other clients and therapy is facilitated by me for everyone. Group Therapy sessions are 2 hours twice a month with the same 4-6 people for 3 months.
It is a cost-effective and rewarding way of working, learning from each others work as well.
Our Costs
Therapy is highly confidential, guided by codes of ethics and underpinned by a framework of theory and practise known as transactional analysis.
Individual Fee: £60 per 60 minutes session
Group Fee: £125 per calendar month (4 hours of therapy)
