Why EMDR
EMDR Therapy is an evidence-based treatment for trauma. Trauma is what happens when our brain and body are over-whelmed, and our memories are stored differently from other memories.
However, our brain and body are hard-wired for healing, and so if we can trigger the normal process through bi-lateral stimulation (eye movement, audio or sensate cues or even walking) we can facilitate the healing process. This means that during the Desensitisation and Re-processing phases, there is very little talking but, unlike when trauma happens, you are not on your own.
Typically, clients come for 1-3 sessions where we get to know each other and co-create a plan of the work they want to do. The number of sessions needed to process the memories will depend on the number and the complexity of what clients want to achieve. A single intensive session may be enough for some people.
Therapy is highly confidential, guided by codes of ethics and underpinned by a framework of theory and practise known as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Re-processing.
Individual Fee: £90 per 90 minutes session
